Design Compact Mechanical Model Lift

I need a neat, mechanically driven lifting mechanism that can raise and lower an architectural display weighing somewhere between 5 kg and 15 kg. I have already gathered a few reference videos that illustrate the motion and general footprint I am after, so you’ll be able to see the style and scale I’m aiming for before we begin sketching.
The lift will be operated by electronics, hydraulics, or automated controls—so smooth gearing, counterweights, or screw-jack arrangements are all fair game as long as the motion feels effortless and repeatable. Space inside the model base is limited, so a compact, low-noise solution is important.
