Commercial AHU Frame Engineering

Job ID: 40316065

Budget: $10 – $30 USD

I’m developing a new commercial air-handling unit and need a mechanical designer who can engineer the internal support frames from the ground up. Your work must safely accommodate the cooling coil, heating coil, main fan assembly, an EC fan, isolators and profile sections, all within the space and airflow constraints of a packaged AHU.

Because the frames sit inside a humid air stream, corrosion resistance is critical; I’m leaning toward coated aluminium or stainless options, but I’m open to lightweight hybrid solutions if they keep maintenance simple. Fast access for coil pull-out and motor replacement is essential, so factor quick-release panels and logical bolt patterns into the layout.

Deliverables
• 3D CAD model of the complete frame set (STEP or SolidWorks)
• Detailed fabrication drawings with material specs, weld symbols and tolerances
• Bill of materials highlighting weight per section
• Simple assembly guide that shows coil and fan insertion sequence

Acceptance Criteria
The design must meet the corrosion-resistance rating we agree on, keep total frame weight under the target we set during kickoff, and allow coil removal without disturbing the fan assemblies.

If you’re experienced with commercial AHU layouts and can optimise for both strength and serviceability, I’d like to review your portfolio and timeline.
