Charger-Style GPS Enclosure Design
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I need a pair of hard-to-spot housings that look and feel just like a slim, puck-shaped wireless phone charger, yet actually hide battery-powered GPS tracker boards with off the shelf batteries. One board has a battery holder with 2 AAA batteries and the other board has a battery case with 3x AA batteries . The shells must share identical external geometry—matching every curve, vent and logo recess—while the internal standoffs change slightly to fit two different tracker PCBs with battery cases. I’ll supply.
Material and finish are locked in: ABS plastic with a clean matte surface so the units blend in with everyday tech accessories. I already have the exact outer dimensions, board outlines, battery sizes and the keep-out zones; I’ll pass all of that to you on day one.
Key functional details you’ll integrate:
• A purely cosmetic USB-C port on the rim to sell the illusion.
• A discreet underside cover (snap or screw—your call) for quick battery swaps.
• Proper draft angles, uniform wall thickness and internal ribs that respect ABS injection-molding standards.
Deliverables I expect
• Parametric 3D CAD files for both variants (STEP or SolidWorks preferred).
• 2D manufacturing drawings with critical tolerances and suggested material specs.
• Basic photo-real renders so I can preview color, texture and logo placement before tooling.
I’ll test your files with my own 3-D prints, so clearances must be spot-on. After those checks, I may ask for one round of minor tweaks before final sign-off.
