3D CAD Models for Novelty Pen Toppers
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I am looking for a freelance CAD/product designer to help create manufacturing-ready 3D models for novelty promotional pen toppers and small plastic products.
These products are intended for mass manufacturing (likely injection molding) through overseas manufacturers I am already working with.
For this project, I want to focus on designing a miniature lightbulb pen topper.
Project Requirements:
* The topper should resemble a classic incandescent-style lightbulb in miniature form (not toy-like or cartoonish in appearance - needs to look like a real light bulb, but just miniaturized to the scale of a pen topper).
* The bulb portion should be made from clear or frosted/translucent plastic.
* The bulb base (the portion resembling the threaded metal base of a real lightbulb) will also function as the pen attachment section.
* The topper must securely attach to a round plastic pen barrel with an outer diameter of 8 mm.
* Existing successful topper samples indicate that the insert/attachment section should likely have an inner diameter of approximately 7.7–7.8 mm to achieve a snug friction fit on the pen.
* The seating depth of the topper onto the pen should be approximately 7–8 mm maximum.
* The product should be designed as a two-part assembly:
1. Clear/frosted bulb portion
2. Opaque bulb base containing the pen insert structure
* The connection between the bulb and base should be mechanically durable. These toppers will experience repeated push/pull forces during installation and removal from pens, so the assembly should not rely solely on a weak surface glue joint. I am open to recommendations regarding the best assembly method (snap fit, interlocking geometry, glue-assisted mechanical fit, etc.).
What I Need:
* Manufacturing-ready CAD model(s)
* STEP/STP files and common manufacturing formats
* Basic dimensioned drawings/specifications
* Design recommendations for manufacturability and assembly
This project may lead to additional topper designs in the future (pipe wrench, fly swatter, feather duster, etc.) if the collaboration goes well.
Please include:
* Examples of relevant CAD/product design work
* Software used
* Estimated turnaround time
* Pricing estimate
