Mechanical Design Engineer – SolidWorks 2019 – Modular Outdoor Cooking System (CAD Design Only)
Project Overview
We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer or Product Design Company to develop a complete 3D CAD model of a premium modular outdoor cooking system.
This project is for engineering design only.
Manufacturing, prototyping and certification are NOT part of this request.
The objective is to create a fully engineered product that is optimized for future serial production using laser cutting, CNC bending and welded sheet metal construction.
The final project shall be fully compatible with SolidWorks 2019.
About the Project
The product is a premium modular outdoor cooking system based on one common firebox.
Different cooking modules can be mounted onto the same base unit.
The design should combine functionality, durability and manufacturability while maintaining a premium appearance.
The attached concept sketches illustrate the intended design direction.
The selected designer is expected to improve the engineering wherever necessary while maintaining the overall concept.

Sheet Metal Design
All outer panels shall be laser cut and bent.
Large panels should use cross-bend stiffeners (X-bends) instead of pressed beads.
The housing shall use tab-and-slot self-aligning construction similar to the attached reference.
The purpose is:
* easier welding
* automatic positioning
* repeatable assembly
* reduced fixture requirements

The firebox shall include:
* Fire chamber
* Removable fire basket
* Ash drawer
* Primary air
* Secondary air
* Rear centered exhaust
* Replaceable wear plates
* Replaceable flame deflectors
The fire basket shall run on welded L-angle rails.
No telescopic drawer slides.
