Summary
I am looking for a skilled CAD specialist to assist with the design and development of the external body of a 1:24 scale Spitfire aircraft model for 3D printing. The project involves creating an accurate 3D model of the outer fuselage, wings, tail section, and other visible exterior components and preparing files suitable for high-quality 3D printing and prototyping.
The ideal candidate should have strong experience in 3D modelling, mechanical design, and product development, with a solid understanding of 3D Printing.
This is a small-to-medium scope project with a budget of approximately $50, suitable for a single part design, or printable 3D model preparation.
Responsibilities:
* Create precise 3D CAD models based on provided sketches, references, or concepts
* Develop accurate exterior aircraft geometry including fuselage, wings, and stabilizers
* Optimize the design for 3D printing
* Prepare printable 3D model files for final printing
* Deliver organized CAD files and final export formats (STEP, STL, PDF, etc.)
Requirements:
* Strong proficiency in SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar CAD software
* Experience in 3D modelling, and CAD design
* Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
* Ability to create production-ready and printable 3D models
* Good communication and ability to work from rough concepts or reference images
Ideal Candidate:
* Background in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Aerospace Design, or Product Development
* Experience working on scale models, aircraft geometry, industrial parts, or custom mechanical systems
* Strong problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
* Able to deliver high-quality work within deadlines
