Advance Steel Model Conversion

I have an existing 3D model built in Autodesk Advance Steel that must be translated into a neutral, widely compatible format without losing accuracy or meta-data. You will start from the native file I supply and produce a clean converted model that opens flawlessly in mainstream CAD/CAM or BIM software.

Accuracy is the priority: every plate, bolt, cut-out and weld prep needs to survive the conversion exactly as drawn, with layers and object properties preserved where the target format allows. I also want the resulting file organised logically so future edits and quantity take-offs remain simple.

Please tell me which export format you recommend (STEP, IFC, STL, OBJ or another you trust for steel fabrication data) and outline any software utilities or custom scripts you expect to use. If you foresee limitations—such as texture loss or boolean issues—flag them up front so we can agree on a workaround.
