YouTube Channel Editor for Documentary-Style Videos

We’re launching a documentary-style YouTube channel, drawing inspiration from https://www.youtube.com/@PAPERKUTDOCS. We’ll explore unique stories, untold histories, and real-life events in short-form documentary videos (around 10 minutes each). Unlike typical video editing workflows, we rely heavily on Blender for editing, motion graphics, and visual elements.
Position Overview
We’re looking for an experienced Blender Video Editor to join our team on a long-term basis. You will take our provided voice-over and script and transform them into captivating videos using Blender for video editing, compositing, and any needed 3D animations or transitions.
Key Responsibilities
Blender Video Editing & Compositing
Edit raw footage, images, and stock videos directly within Blender.
Use Blender’s video sequencing capabilities to synchronize visuals with our provided voice-over.
Apply compositing techniques (color correction, masking, layering effects) to enhance the final output.
Motion Graphics & 3D Elements
Create or integrate 3D models, text, and animations using Blender’s 3D toolkit.
Add titles, lower thirds, and other text overlays that align with a documentary style.
Incorporate 3D transitions, camera moves, or visual effects to maintain viewer engagement.
Asset Sourcing & Integration
Work with stock footage, images, or custom 3D assets to tell a compelling story.
Ensure the style and tone of each video aligns with the channel’s branding and documentary feel.
Collaboration & Revisions
Communicate regularly with the project lead or content manager for any clarifications.
Accept feedback gracefully and apply revisions promptly.
Maintain organized project files and follow naming conventions for easy collaboration.
Requirements
Expertise in Blender
Proficient in Blender’s Video Sequence Editor (VSE), compositing nodes, and 3D animation tools.
Solid understanding of camera movements, lighting, and texturing to produce polished visuals.
Documentary & Storytelling Skills
Experience editing videos in a documentary style, focusing on narrative flow and pacing.
Ability to match visuals to the script’s storyline and maintain viewer interest.
Attention to Detail
Ensure high-quality, error-free outputs, from smooth transitions to effective audio synchronization.
Time Management
Capable of delivering edits on schedule and handling revisions efficiently.
Compensation
Rate: $10 per minute of the final video. With an average of 10 minutes per video, that’s $100 per video.
Long-Term Growth: Once the channel is monetized and revenue increases, we will drastically raise the rate to match the channel’s success.
