Simple VR Naval Shooting Trainer
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I need a small-scope PC VR game that lets naval crews practise gunnery from a ship’s deck. Visual fidelity can stay modest—think clean low-poly assets and lightweight shaders—so most of the effort can go into getting the interactions and physics right rather than chasing AAA graphics.
Core play loop
• The trainee stands on a simulated navy vessel at sea, picks up a B-41 style shoulder-launched weapon or mounts an anti-aircraft machine gun, then engages targets.
• Three drill modes must be available from a simple menu:
– Fixed maritime targets (buoys, derelict hulls).
– Moving surface targets (small boats weaving across varying ranges).
– All of the above under changing weather and sea-state presets (calm, moderate swell, heavy rain at night) that influence visibility and weapon handling.
What I consider “done”
– A Unity or Unreal build that runs on a mid-range PC with SteamVR-compatible headsets.
– Basic deck environment, ocean shader, skybox and audio to convey immersion but keep performance high.
– Functional weapon models with realistic reload / recoil feedback; hit detection, scoring and simple after-action stats.
– Clear project folder with commented source so my team can iterate.
