STL Designs for UV Laser Glass Engraving
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
I regularly turn family photos, logos, and hand-drawn sketches into keepsake glass pieces and now need a reliable modeller who can convert each reference into clean, laser-ready STL files. Most requests arrive as simple pictures or rough ideas, and I’ll count on you to interpret them into either flat 2D reliefs or full 3D scenes—whichever best fits the artwork—so the UV laser produces crisp detail with minimal post-processing.
Here is what matters to me on every job:
• Format & readiness
All files must arrive in .stl, scaled to the dimensions I provide and oriented for engraving on standard 50mm crystal blocks or similar blanks. Meshes should be watertight, with no self-intersections, and have enough surface resolution to avoid visible faceting when lasered.
• Style flexibility
Every project is a customised personal design intended as a gift, so accuracy to the supplied photo or idea is key. Sometimes that means a realistic 3D bust; other times a shallow 2D relief with subtle depth. I’ll supply reference images and notes, and I’m happy to jump on a quick call or share mark-ups so you capture the sentiment.
• Workflow & tools
Whether you prefer Blender, ZBrush, Fusion 360, or another package, I just need predictable turnarounds (often 2–3 days per piece) and one to two revision rounds so we can catch any small tweaks before engraving.
Deliverable checklist for each model:
1. Final .stl file, correctly scaled and oriented
2. Screenshot or quick render showing front, side, and top views
3. Confirmation that the mesh passes an STL-repair check (e.g., Netfabb, Meshmixer)
If you have experience preparing art for UV laser or subsurface engraving, please send a sample STL or render that shows surface depth and detail clarity. I’m starting with a single piece but foresee ongoing weekly work for the right partner.
