HDRI Specialist for 3D Fabric Realism
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
Job Title
HDRI Lighting Specialist for Shopify 3D Configurator (React Three Fiber)
Job Description
I’m looking for an experienced HDRI lighting specialist to help refine and enhance the realism of lighting for a Shopify 3D product configurator built with React Three Fiber (R3F).
Based on the UI and tools in our current configurator (HDR upload, exposure, shadow, and fabric sliders), the system supports custom HDR environments. However, we need expert support creating custom HDRI files that deliver more realistic, studio-quality lighting while remaining optimized for real-time web performance.
Products / Materials
We currently have 4 fabric types that must render accurately under the same HDR environment:
• Satin
• Crepe
• Lace
• Mikado
Each fabric reacts differently to light, so achieving realism without over-reflectivity or glare is critical.
What We Need
We’re specifically looking for someone who can create production-ready HDRI environments that accomplish the following:
Enhanced realism with balanced lighting
Natural, studio-style light that feels realistic, not flat or artificial
Clear visibility of fabric texture, seams, lace detail, and construction
No blown highlights or crushed shadows
True 360° consistency
Front and back details remain visible at all rotation angles
Even lighting when rotating the model in the configurator
Controlled reflections and glare
No harsh hotspots or mirror-like glare
Subtle, realistic highlights appropriate for luxury bridal fabrics
Deliverables
• Custom HDRI files optimized for real-time 3D (HDR / EXR)
• Lighting that works consistently across all four fabric types
• Files ready for direct upload into a Shopify + R3F configurator
Ideal Candidate
• Strong experience creating HDRIs for real-time web-based 3D configurators
• Familiar with React Three Fiber, Three.js, or similar pipelines
• Experience lighting fashion, apparel, or textile-based 3D assets
• Strong understanding of realism, exposure control, roughness, and fabric response
If you’ve worked on luxury product configurators, fashion rendering, or high-end web 3D experiences, I’d love to see examples of your work.
