Flood Prevention & Outreach Plan
Budget: $10,000 – $20,000 USD
Our community has experienced repeated flood events and it is time to move from reactive clean-ups to proactive protection. I want a specialist who can design a practical, locally tailored flood-prevention strategy and pair it with engaging digital education that keeps residents informed long before the water rises.
The project breaks down into two complementary tracks:
• Technical flood-prevention plan – Map current risks, model future scenarios, then recommend structural and non-structural measures that can realistically be funded and implemented here. Clear timelines, responsibilities and cost ranges must be included so local authorities can act without delay.
• Community-facing education – Turn those findings into plain-language online content and a social-media campaign that reaches homeowners, schools and small businesses. Think short explainer videos, shareable infographics, and scheduled posts that guide people on preparation, insurance, safe evacuation routes and post-flood recovery.
Deliverables
1. Risk assessment report and prevention roadmap (PDF + editable source).
2. GIS maps or visual overlays highlighting high-risk zones.
3. Content calendar plus copy, graphics and suggested hashtags for a three-month social-media rollout.
4. A metrics plan showing how we will track reach and engagement.
Acceptance will be based on the clarity, feasibility and local relevance of the prevention measures, plus the usability and attractiveness of the online materials.
