A 3D reality capture specialist (Construction industry)
Budget: £250 – £750 GBP
Job Title: 3D Reality Capture Specialist for Construction Sites
Job Description: We are seeking a skilled 3D Reality Capture professional to join our team in creating detailed and precise 3D models of various construction sites. This role requires expertise in advanced 3D scanning (both mobile and terrestrial), drone photogrammetry, and 360-degree video capture to document interior and exterior site features. The data you capture will be integral to construction planning, architectural visualization, and project management processes.
We offer flexibility in terms of day rates or hourly rates, with the potential for this role to evolve into a regular, full-time position or a permanent freelance engagement. The ideal candidate will be UK-based (within the M25 boundary) with occasional paid overnight trips to Germany required.
Key Responsibilities:
Comprehensive Reality Capture: Perform 3D captures of construction sites, including detailed scanning of interior layouts, exterior structures, and key mechanical systems. You should be familiar with terrestrial scanning equipment such as Leica RTC and Faro, as well as mobile scanning tools like NavVis and Orbis.
Drone-Assisted Surveying: Utilize drones for aerial site capture, providing enhanced accuracy and comprehensive site data.
360-Degree Video Integration: Capture and integrate 360-degree video to create immersive site walkthroughs, ensuring stakeholders have a clear and detailed view of current site conditions.
High-Quality Deliverables: Produce precise, high-resolution 3D models suitable for use in architectural visualization, construction progress tracking, and detailed project planning.
Ideal Skills and Experience:
3D Modelling and Scanning: Extensive experience in 3D scanning and modelling, with a portfolio that includes work on construction or commercial building projects.
Drone Operation: Proficiency in operating drones and applying photogrammetry techniques for accurate 3D modelling.
360-Degree Video Expertise: Demonstrated skill in capturing and integrating 360-degree video into 3D models and virtual tours.
Attention to Detail: Ability to capture intricate architectural details and translate them into comprehensive 3D models, or upload data to the cloud for processing by our back office.
Additional Requirements:
Experience working in large-scale construction environments is highly preferred.
Familiarity with industry-standard software for 3D modelling and reality capture.
UK-based, within the M25 boundary, with flexibility for day trips to Germany.
What We’re Looking For: We are looking for a passionate freelancer who is excited about using cutting-edge reality capture techniques. Even if you don’t meet every single requirement listed, we still encourage you to apply—especially if you have a willingness to learn and grow in this role.
If you have the expertise to bring construction sites to life in 3D, and the enthusiasm to expand your skills, we would love to hear from you!
