2D MMO Sandbox PC Development

Job ID: 40498270

Budget: $10 – $30 USD

I’m building Lolmao.Io, a 2D online sandbox inspired by Pixel Worlds that lets players build, chat, trade and fully customise their avatars. The core loops, monetisation model (Pixel Pass plus in-game currency) and a detailed design document are already in place; what I need now is solid game development muscle to turn those plans into a playable PC experience.

Scope of work
• Set up a client-server architecture that supports real-time multiplayer in large, persistent worlds.
• Implement core gameplay systems: block placement & removal, avatar movement, chat, trading and basic crafting.
• Create a simple account/login flow tied to cloud-saved inventories.
• Integrate placeholder art so we can iterate quickly; final graphics will be added later.
• Build hooks for the Pixel Pass and virtual-currency store (no payment SDKs yet, just the stubs).

Tech notes
I’m engine-agnostic—Unity, Unreal, Godot or something custom is fine as long as it reliably hits 60 fps on mid-range PCs and can be exported to Web or Mobile later. Use whatever networking stack you’re most comfortable with; just outline why it suits a 2D MMO.

Deliverables
1. A working pre-alpha build for Windows (.exe) with a hosted test server.
2. Source project with clear folder structure, commented code and setup instructions.
3. Short README describing engine version, third-party libraries and build steps.

Acceptance criteria
• Up to 50 concurrent players can join the same world, place/remove blocks and see others’ actions in real time with <150 ms latency.
• Chat, trading and inventory persist across sessions.
• Pixel Pass and currency UI paths are reachable, even if they point to stub logic for now.

If you love crafting multiplayer sandboxes and are ready to move fast, let’s talk—I’ll share the full GDD and we can agree on milestones right away.
