Realistic Watercolor Book Illustrations
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I’m preparing a 13-page picture book for children aged 4 – 8 and now need the artwork that will bring it to life. The story is set indoors and outdoors—warm family rooms, a cheerful hospital ward, yard to play in, wondering out in nature checking out nature and climbing on rocks and a friendly doctor’s office—so each scene should feel familiar and comforting. I’m after realistic human characters rendered in watercolor but also background scenes that are calm and inviting; whether you paint traditionally and scan at high resolution or work digitally with watercolor brushes is up to you, as long as the finished pieces keep the soft, organic feel of real pigment on paper.
Deliverables:
• 13 full-page illustrations (CMYK, 300 dpi, bleed included)
• Layered source files so typography and minor edits can be adjusted later
• A small cover vignette derived from one of the outdoor scenes for marketing use
Once sketches are approved, we can move on to color. Final acceptance will be based on accurate sizing, consistency of palette across spreads, and faithful representation of the settings described above.
