Naval architect to work with 3D scan from surf skis/kayaks to make modifications and calculations
Budget: $250 – $750 AUD
Looking to develop a range of surf skis (paddling craft 5m-7m long) initially from scans of current skis I am using. The initial work will hopefully lead into other similar projects if all goes well.
I intend to have the skis I am currently using digitised so that the scans can be used as a starting point for the new ski designs. The surf skis range from more stable beginner skis to elite performance skis.
I will need an individual who can interpret the changes I require into the design and indicate the change in various parameters as a result e.g. volume, speed manoeuvrability, acceleration, stability
Once modifications are made to the files from the scans to accommodate the changes required then the files will be exported to a suitable format for a plug to be machined via a CNC machine.
Below are some of the requirements I have:
• Ability to take scanned data of a ski and make changes to deck and hull
• Able to provide meaningful hydrostatic data related to changes and assist in interpreting the changes
• Able to provide resistance/drag calculations and any other valuable data and explain the real life significance of the data
• Ability to engage in future projects
• Performance is the primary requirement of the designs
• Willingness to spend time to understand requirements, design characteristics, construction of the skis and even learn about the sport and what makes designs work. I have decades of experience with paddling so can explain all this but will need someone who is happy to learn and spend time doing so to be able better assist.
I am able to provide images/videos and other information which may assist in enhancing your understanding of the sport the craft are designed for which in turn I believe will assist you in providing a faster and more accurate service.
Will provide scan files and further information once discussions furthered.
