Hand-Drawn Vintage Garden Map

I’d like an illustrated map of my residential garden that feels as though it was drafted in the 1920-40s by a patient estate cartographer. The drawing must stay faithful to the garden’s real geometry—paths, beds, statues, pergolas and house elevations need to sit exactly where they are on site—so accuracy is just as important as charm.

Plants should be shown at a moderate level of detail: recognisable silhouettes, characteristic clumps and canopies rather than every last leaf. This keeps the image readable while still letting an informed viewer identify the roses, hydrangeas, clipped yews and orchard trees.

For the treatment, I’m leaning toward a vintage sepia base, warmed with a few restrained colour washes on focal specimens and hard-landscape accents. If you feel a classic black-and-white rendition will serve the composition better, I’m open to seeing a quick test patch first.

Deliverables
• One high-resolution, print-ready digital file (minimum A3 at 300 dpi, layered if created digitally).
• A low-res proof for feedback before finalising tone and plant labels.
• Source file or original scan so the publisher can scale or crop for the Garden Book.

The final piece should look lovingly hand-worked: subtle line weight variation, hints of ageing, perhaps even a faint plate-press texture—anything that lends authenticity without muddying the information.
