Create Vintage-Style Maps
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
Hello,
I have written a historical fiction book titled The Open – The Making of Golf’s First Major. I am writing to receive a price quote for three “black and white” maps for the book. I don’t believe the map are terribly complex. As a self-publisher, I’m operating on a tight budget. (I won’t to include simple maps if it’s affordable.) This is my first time working with a Map Illustrator/Cartographer, so please excuse my use of non-industry wording. I want digital (for e-books) and print-ready files. I don’t know if it’s customary, but I envision the need for a round or two of revisions. What is customary regarding usage rights?
1. Scotland (circa 1800). To include the following cities/towns/places:
• Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Prestwick, St. Andrews, Stirling, Falkirk, Inverness, Culloden, Aberdeen, Leith, Musselburgh, Prestonpans, Isle of Skye, Eriskay, Loch nan Uamh, and Nairn. Label the German Ocean, Hebrides, Outer Hebrides, and Orkney. Title the map Scotland, using an antique-style script for authenticity.

2. St Andrews (circa 1850). To include the following cities/towns/places:
• Cathedral ruins, Castle ruins, Market Street (including location of Mercat Cross), South Street, North Street, The Scores, R&A clubhouse, including the first holes of the Links course on the outskirts, Castle Sands, East Sands Beach, West Sands Beach, Holy Trinity Church, St. Salvador Chapel (University of St Andrews), Cross Keys Inn, Stewart’s Hotel, Black Bull Inn, West Port, Kinness Burn. Title the map St. Andrews, using an antique-style script for authenticity and consistency among the three maps.

3. Edinburgh/Leith (circa 1850). To include the following cities/towns/places:
• Edinburgh castle, all six ports of walled Old Town [West Port, Bristo Port, Potterrow Port, Cowgate Port, Netherbow Port, and New Port], St. Giles’ Cathedral, Mercat Cross, Castlehill, Lawnmarket, High Street, Canongate, the Palace of Holyroodhouse, Greyfriars, Blackfriars, White Hart Inn (Grassmarket), Water of Leith, Easter Road, Wester Road, Leith Links, Leith port, Kirkgate. Title the map Edinburgh/Leith, using an antique-style script for authenticity and consistency among the three maps.
