Children’s Book Illustrations Needed

Job ID: 39844687

Budget: $250 – $750 AUD

I’m creating a picture book that helps young readers make sense of loss through the experiences of a bear, an owl and a tree all set in an Australian forest alive with deer, wombats, wallabies and cockatoos. Fewer than ten illustrations are required, and I’m drawn to the soft, wistful feel of Petrea King’s illustrator—delicate lines, light washes and comforting palettes—though I’m open to your own gentle interpretation if it carries the same warmth.

Each spread will be supplied with a short scene description so you’re never guessing about composition or mood. What matters most is that the artwork feels safe, comforting and honest, allowing children to explore sadness while remaining firmly held by hope.

Please share past children’s-book samples that show you can handle subtle emotion and maintain visual continuity. A quick note on your process and timeline will help me gauge fit.

Deliverables:
• 8-10 print-ready illustrations (CMYK, 300 dpi, full bleed)
• Layered source files (PSD, Procreate or similar) plus flattened PDFs
• Two feedback stages: sketches and colour roughs before final art

I’d like to approve sketches within three weeks of hire and wrap final art roughly a month later, but I’m flexible for the right artist. I look forward to seeing how you might bring this gentle, healing story to life.
