Restroom & kitchenette layout – detailed technical brief (EU standards)
Budget: €8 – €30 EUR
I am looking for an interior designer / space planner to prepare a precise and buildable 2D layout for a restroom block with kitchenette, designed strictly according to European (Czech / EU) building and hygiene standards.
This is a technical planning task, not a visual or conceptual design.
Please read carefully and follow the requirements below.
1. Project scope
One existing room only
No possibility to enlarge the space
Exact internal dimensions will be provided
Existing door openings should be preserved if reasonably possible
(they may be modified only if absolutely necessary)
2. Required sanitary program
Women’s restroom
2 WC cabins
wall-mounted WC bowls
each WC fixed to main structural wall only
no WC mounted on lightweight partitions
Minimum WC cabin dimensions:
width: 900 mm (minimum)
depth: 1,400 mm minimum
(1,500 mm preferred)
Doors:
clear width: 700–800 mm
opening outwards from the cabin (at least one WC must comply)
Men’s restroom
1 WC cabin
3 wall-mounted urinals
WC bowl and urinals fixed to main structural wall
WC cabin dimensions (same as women):
width: min. 900 mm
depth: min. 1,400–1,500 mm
Urinal spacing:
minimum width per urinal: 600 mm
recommended axis-to-axis spacing: 700–800 mm
minimum distance from urinal to sink: 400 mm preferred
(300 mm absolute minimum)
Privacy partitions between urinals are not mandatory, optional only.
Visibility rule (important)
WC bowls must NOT be directly visible
when opening the main entrance door to the WC area,
even if cabin doors are open.
The layout must avoid any direct visual axis to WC bowls.
3. Sinks (washbasins)
sinks must be provided in:
women’s area
men’s area
minimum:
1 sink per restroom
recommended:
women: 2 sinks
men: 1 sink
sinks must have hot and cold water
4. Kitchenette
located in the remaining part of the room
separate enclosed room
not pass-through to WC areas
separate entrance
minimum size: approx. 2.5 × 2.5 m
includes sink with hot and cold water
5. Ventilation (mandatory)
WC areas require mechanical exhaust ventilation
men’s WC and women’s WC must have separate exhaust branches
kitchenette must have its own, separate ventilation
WC ventilation and kitchenette ventilation must NOT be combined
Exhaust routing
the final exhaust point is already defined
its location is marked in blue on the provided plan
your layout must respect this exhaust location
ventilation ducts may pass through other rooms only as closed, sealed ducts
6. Domestic hot water boiler
include a realistic and accessible location for a domestic hot water boiler
boiler must:
be service-accessible
logically supply sinks and WCs
not obstruct circulation or door openings
placement must be technically realistic for Central European construction
7. Construction principles
all WC bowls and urinals must be:
wall-mounted
anchored to main structural walls only
minimize new partitions
avoid unnecessary complexity
the solution must be realistic, economical, and buildable
8. Deliverables
2D floor plan only
all key dimensions included
sanitary fixtures clearly labeled
ventilation routes indicated schematically
no 3D, no renderings, no decoration
