Residential Stud Wall Drawing

Job ID: 40030999

Budget: £20 – £250 GBP

I need a detailed drawing for a non-load bearing wooden stud wall to be installed in a residential space for room division.

Drawing is required as builder is unable to produce a drawing but building inspector requires drawing to check structural integrity and sound transmission

The wall is 3950mm long and 2350 tall

The builder will be Using the following materials:

• Timber Frame: 3x2 treated timbers
• Insulation: 70mm Rockwool Sound Insulation Slab
• Plasterboards: 12.5mm standard plasterboards (1200 x 2400)
• Fixings: Wood screws and drywall screws
• Plastering: Febond Blue Grit, joint scrim tape, multifinish plaster
• Coving: Gyproc coving (127mm), Siniat cove adhesive
• Skirting & Trims: Chamfered skirting boards, quadrant mouldings, grab adhesive
• Painting: Dulux Vinyl Matt (walls), Dulux Satinwood (skirting)

The builder will take the following measures for sound insulation:

Flooring Preparation: We will cut the existing laminate flooring to align with the new partition wall's width, allowing for a 10 mm gap on each side. This gap will accommodate expansion and contraction of the flooring materials over time. A foam expansion strip will be installed to facilitate this movement.

Use of Acoustic Tape: Acoustic tape will be affixed along the edges of the wall frame where it connects to the existing structure. This tape serves to dampen vibrations and minimise sound transfer, thereby enhancing overall acoustic performance.

Skirting Board: During the installation of the skirting boards, we will leave a 5 mm gap between the skirting and the laminate flooring. This gap allows for sound absorption and will be filled with either an expansion strip or acoustic sealant. Moulding will be added to cover this gap, ensuring a cohesive design with the flat's existing aesthetics.

Plasterboard Installation: 5 mm gap will be maintained between the new wall and the ceiling plasterboard, filled with acoustic sealant to allow for any necessary movement. Coving will be installed afterwards to match the existing ceiling design.
