Remote CAD Technician – SAP Measurement & Area Takeoffs from Architectural Drawings
Budget: £750 – £1,200 GBP
Job Description:
We are an energy consultancy specialising in SAP 10.2 assessments for UK Building Regulations. We require an experienced CAD technician to measure areas and lengths from architectural plans (DWG/PDF) and input them into our provided Excel template.
The work is repetitive but requires absolute accuracy and methodical problem-solving. You must follow our step-by-step measurement guide exactly, asking questions when anything is unclear.
Responsibilities:
Open and interpret architectural GA plans (DWG/PDF)
Identify and measure:
Heated internal floor areas (total and living/warmer)
External wall lengths by type (exposed, sheltered to stairs, sheltered to corridors, balconies, party walls, etc.)
Balcony lengths (measured end-to-end along dwelling external wall)
Floor areas above unheated spaces
Identify and note window/door references and orientations from plans
Follow the SAP measurement key and terminology exactly (matching our Excel sheet, word instructions, and marked-up drawings)
Enter results into our Excel sheet with correct cell references
Flag uncertainties immediately for clarification
Requirements:
Proficient in AutoCAD (or equivalent CAD software)
Able to measure directly from DWG and PDF plans
High attention to detail — accuracy is paramount
Familiarity with architectural drawings and residential layouts
Good written communication in English
Reliable internet connection and ability to work to deadlines
Preferred Experience:
Previous work in architectural takeoffs or SAP measurement for UK projects
Experience working with overseas clients on long-term technical tasks
Payment Structure:
Per Unit Type Fee – agreed upfront
Copy Fee for duplicate units (minimal work, just ensure window references and orientations are correct)
Bonus for consistent accuracy and zero rework
Test Task:
Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete one dwelling type measurement as a paid test before being considered for ongoing work.
How to Apply:
Brief introduction of your CAD experience
Example of similar measurement/takeoff work
Your proposed per-unit rate and turnaround time
Confirmation you are happy to work with our step-by-step instructions and clarify any uncertainties before submission
