Precision 2D Lock Drawings
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I need clear, production-ready 2D engineering drawings for a small combination lock I’m bringing to market. The lock is mechanically simple, but the drawings must be precise enough for a machine shop to quote and cut steel parts without follow-up questions.
Scope
• Fully dimensioned orthographic views of every component.
• Tolerance call-outs wherever fit and function are critical.
• A dedicated sheet listing material specifications (grades, finishes, hardness where relevant).
No assembly instructions are required at this stage; I’m focusing on the parts themselves.
What I’m looking for
You should be comfortable working in AutoCAD, DraftSight, SolidWorks—or any comparable 2D CAD package that outputs industry-standard DWG/DXF and PDF files. A background in mechanical or product design, especially with small mechanisms or security hardware, will help you understand the tight tolerances involved.
Deliverables
1. Native CAD files (DWG or equivalent).
2. Print-ready PDFs of each sheet.
3. A brief design note outlining any assumptions made.
I’ll supply rough sketches, key dimensions, and photos of similar locks as soon as we start. Please include examples of previous technical drawings—ideally for precision metal components—so I can gauge your drafting style.
