Outdoor Structure Drafting Specialist Needed
Budget: $8 – $25 CAD
Job Title: Ongoing Deck Drafting Specialist Needed (Shop Drawings & Permit-Ready Plans)
Description:
We're a custom deck and outdoor structure company based in Ottawa Ontario Canada, and we're looking for a drafting specialist to join us on a weekly basis to prepare shop drawings for our projects.
These drawings will be used by:
Our crew on-site
Inspectors for permitting (when required)
Clients for approval and understanding
What You'll Be Doing:
Produce accurate shop drawings from rough measurements, sketches, and photos
Include:
Framing layout
Footing locations and sizes
Joist and beam sizing
Elevation views
Stair and railing details
Material specifications
Optionally provide simple 3D renders for clients
Revise drawings based on client or inspector feedback
Requirements:
Experience drafting decks, fences, stairs, pergolas, or outdoor structures
Familiar with building codes (Ontario/Canada preferred, but not mandatory)
Proficient in SketchUp, AutoCAD, Chief Architect, or similar
Able to interpret site photos and rough field measurements
Fluent in English and good communication skills
Commitment:
Ongoing weekly work
1–3 projects per week depending on season
Must be able to turn around most projects within 2–3 days
