Independent Rear Suspension Design in SolidWorks

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

I’m building a handmade two-seater and now need a complete rear suspension that bolts directly to my existing transmission housing and uses the wheel hubs I already have on hand. The car will see only smooth, paved roads, so the geometry can focus on making a fun car to drive.

I’d like the whole system laid out as an independent rear suspension. All 3D work can be created in SolidWorks or similar program. Once the virtual assembly is finalized, I’ll also need fully detailed 2D manufacturing drawings—properly dimensioned, toleranced and annotated—ready for machining, laser cutting or bending. Because only two cars will ever be built, weld-ready tube structures and easily sourced hardware are more valuable to me than hard-to-find castings.

Key points you should consider and show in the deliverables:
• Accurate mating flange or adapter design that lets the suspension cradle fasten to my transmission boss pattern.
• Correct positioning for the supplied hubs, maintaining desired track width and wheel offset.
• Kinematics that minimize camber change and toe steer through the suspension’s full range on smooth-road travel.
• Space allocation for coil-over dampers and standard service tools.
• A bill of materials cross-referenced to each drawing sheet.

Please include STEP exports alongside the native SolidWorks files so I can share previews with my fabricator, and use drawing templates in millimeters. If you typically validate designs with built-in SolidWorks Simulation, a quick static load check of the main control arms would be a welcome bonus for peace of mind.
