High Precision Linear Wood Cutter

Job ID: 40177233

Budget: €250 – €750 EUR

I need an engineer who can take my concept for a linear plant grafting machine, and turn it into a complete, build-ready design. The machine must move the trapezoid blade forward and back fast while performing the vertical cut perfectly, delivering repeatable cuts in 5mm wood stems at high precision at an acute angle.

Key parameters
• Material: wood only
• Maximum stock: precision cut 5 mm thick stems at an angle
• Tolerance: high-precision clean cutting for grafting.

I already know the motion profile I want—simple, continuous reciprocation—so your focus will be on translating that into a robust mechanical layout, selecting stepper/servo drives, specifying linear rails, designing the blade-holding carriage, and proposing a controller (GRBL, TinyG, or a comparable CNC board are all acceptable).

Please provide:
1. Detailed 2D drawing with all the parts explained. I.e. what parts are going to be used and how the parts work. I.e. linear actuators.

If you have experience designing specialty blade cutting, oscillating blades, the challenge is mostly about achieving flawless perpendicularity and vibration-free motion in a small envelope. I’m ready to answer technical questions quickly so we can iterate fast and get to a manufacturable design.
