NC1 Generation from 2D DWG Drawings

I regularly receive 2-D shop drawings in DWG format for structural members such as universal beams, tapered-flange channels and angle bars. Every member is detailed with holes and welded plates, yet the files arrive on plain layers, so nothing is pre-sorted for you.

Your task is to open each DWG, read the geometry accurately and export a clean, fabrication-ready NC1 file for every part. A typical job contains anywhere from five to thirty drawings, depending on project size, and I’ll pass them to you in batches as they come off the design desk.

Because there is no layer coding, I’m counting on your experience with AutoCAD, Advance Steel, Tekla, SDS/2—or any workflow you prefer—to spot every hole and plate edge correctly before generating the NC data. Please name the NC1 files to match the original drawing numbers so I can drop them straight into our CNC workflow.

I’ll review each batch by checking hole positions, lengths and plate locations against the DWG; once everything aligns, the milestone is released and we move on to the next set. If this sounds straightforward for you, let’s start with the current batch and build an ongoing collaboration.
