SURPRISE CHRISTMAS GIFT (But in June!)
FAMILY TRIP TO GATLINBURG & PIGEON FORGE
June 19 – June 22 (Yes, we are absolutely going on vacation in the summer for Christmas. Just be grateful.)
Dear esteemed members of The Family Circus,
You are all cordially, reluctantly, and somewhat dangerously invited on a family vacation to the Smoky Mountains.
WHAT IS INCLUDED (please read like a game show announcer)
Cabin Lodging in the Smoky Mountains (scenic & drama-friendly)
Tickets to Anakeesta (sky lifts, views, vibes)
Tickets to Dthis ollywood (roller coasters & legendary cinnamon bread)
Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Show (gravy + banjos + chaos)
Memories. Arguments. Possibly group photo therapy.
WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED (in bold red disappointment)
Transportation (y’all are driving yourselves, good luck)
Food (we will not go bankrupt on snacks)
Sophia’s infinite ice cream fund
Go-Karts (Houston & Angel cannot drag race again)
Souvenir raccoon hats / moonshine hoodies
Anyone’s emotional support funnel cake

ROYAL ORDER OF FAMILY ROLES FOR THE TRIP:
Delanie – Official Queen Bee What Delanie wants → Delanie gets. If Delanie so much as whispers a thought: We will all say, “Yes your Majesty.” If she wants to be carried up the mountain like Cleopatra, someone better step up. We do not ask questions. We obey. The Hive has spoken.
Sophia – The Ice Cream Princess Will request ice cream every 11 minutes. Supreme Dessert Court ruling: You get THREE ice creams on the trip. TOTAL. Use them wisely. No appeal. Judge Jody has spoken.
Houston – Crybaby-In-Chief Will cry for: hunger, tiredness, joy, boredom, weather, mismatching socks, atmospheric pressure changes, Lunchables, and the concept of “waiting.” We love him. Bring tissues. Bring empathy. Bring ear plugs if needed.
Angel – The Escape Artist Will mysteriously relocate sleeping arrangements halfway through the trip: relocation due to Houston’s emotional rainfall. Survival strategy: quiet corner, blanket, charging cord. Discretion level: high.
Zack – Sneaker Stylist Packs 15 pairs of shoes for 3 days. Every outfit has a matching shoe mood. We do not understand either. Storage fees not included.
Lauren – Sneaker Duchess Zack’s co-conspirator in footwear fashion.
If Zack brings 15 pairs, Lauren brings 16 — one extra, just in case his outfit inspires her.
Together they form the royal sneaker court. Matching shoes is mandatory, matching opinions optional.
Austin – Dirt Road Royalty
This is NOT camping.
No tent. No fire pit duty. No tactical survival knives. Stop asking.
Fueled by adrenaline, gas fumes, and questionable decisions.
Can be found joyriding through puddles or running to the post office like it’s a finish line.
Jessica – The Enigma Austin’s girlfriend. Still being observed by the council.
Seems normal… suspiciously normal.
TBD on whether she survives a weekend of Selmier / Meyer-level chaos, after that Disney trip.
Brandon – Captain Ground Transportation Brandon is the reason we’re going to the Smoky Mountains instead of the Rocky Mountains. We could’ve been in Colorado, riding gondola, breathing alpine air. But no. Brandon said, “driving keeps him “in control. “Translation: he wants to control the playlist and the snacks. Mostly he just wants to stop at every gas station for beef jerky and complain about traffic.
Daniela – Airborne General Brandon’s girlfriend, and Delanie and Angel’s mom.
Would 100% prefer to fly, probably in first class, and sip cocoa while watching the Rockies glide by below.
But alas — she’s grounded with the rest of us.
She will smile politely while secretly judging everyone’s GPS route choices.
Jordan – Lost and Found Will disappear inside a Kroger, cabin hallway, or parking lot. Must be trackable by Bluetooth tag. We may need ankle GPS. Also requires supervision near any bottle of tequila.

DISH DUTY
Someone has to do it.
We’re not naming names.
The cabin will decide.
The cabin always decides.
Any complaints → Please file with James. Response time: Never.
SMOKY MOUNTAIN FACTS (that may or may not help)
There are bears.
Bears like snacks.
Bears consider you a snack if you have snacks.
DO NOT leave food outside, in cars, on porches, in pockets, under pillows, etc.
Sophia is NOT sharing her ice cream with the bears.
The mountains are pretty. Look at them. Or don’t. We already paid.
The Wi-Fi might not work, lucky you, more family time.
Family Photos WILL HAPPEN. Smile like you mean it or suffer a digital eternity of regret.

BEAR SNACK WARNING
Bears can smell:
• Food
• Fear
• Unattended family members
• Brandon’s “shortcut” that adds three hours to the trip
Secure ALL snacks.
And maybe Brandon too.
ITINERARY HIGHLIGHTS
• Cabin in the mountains (there will be arguing over bedrooms; we accept this)
• Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Show (loud banjos and gravy fights on stage)
• Anakeesta (sky lifts, views, overpriced lemonade; Houston may cry)
• Dollywood (rides, cinnamon bread that changes lives; Zack will change outfits 3 times)

FINAL MESSAGE
We love this ridiculous family more than words.
We might yell.
We might cry.
We might have to retrieve Jordan from the wrong parking lot at Dollywood — or from a moonshine tasting gone wrong.
But we will laugh, we will eat, we will ride roller coasters,
and we will not let the bears eat our snacks.
Pack joy.
Pack chaos.
Pack deodorant.
Merry Christmas in June, my favorite kind of crazy.
