Realistic Fairy Tale Illustrations
Budget: $5,000 – $10,000 USD
I am finalizing a children’s picture book that follows forest fairies, songbirds, and other tiny woodland creatures through a lush natural world. To bring the story to life I need a visual artist who can paint these characters—and their surroundings—in a realistic Ñ, magical style, complete with expressive faces and true-to-life anatomy.
Scope of work
• 21+ full-colour illustrations: mainly full-page spreads, supported by several spot drawings and decorative page borders that echo the woodland theme.
• Faithful facial expressions on every fairy so young readers connect instantly with their emotions.
• Consistent lighting, palette, and detailing across all pages to keep the world believable.
• Optional—but appreciated—book layout to print-ready PDF (including bleeds, crop marks, and spine width) so I can send the file straight to the printer.
File & technical requirements
• Minimum 300 DPI, CMYK, with layered source files (PSD or Procreate) plus flattened TIFF/PNG finals.
• Full-page art sized to 8.5" × 11" with 0.125" bleed; spot art provided on transparent background.
• Page borders supplied separately so they can be reused in the layout stage.
How to stand out
Please include links or attachments that showcase past work in a comparable realistic children’s-book style—especially pieces featuring human or humanoid characters with clear expressions. No lengthy proposals are necessary; strong portfolios speak for themselves.
I look forward to seeing art that lets readers feel a little forest magic on every page.
Attached is an example I created in Dall-E for an example. I’m open to similar styles.
