Children’s Book Cartoon Illustrations
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
My upcoming picture book needs a bright, friendly visual voice. The story centers on a family bicycling in Liberty State Park, New Jersey: children, parents, grand-parents and their dog. This park is a beautiful park full of trees and bike path and a waterfront on the Hudson River overlooking New York City. I want the background to come alive in the illustrations. I need 16 full-color illustrations in a clean, cartoonish style to match the playful tone of the text. I will supply the manuscript with page-by-page art notes, reference mood boards and rough thumbnails so you can jump straight into sketching.
Here’s what I’m expecting:
• Rough pencil concepts for approval before you move on to color
• Final high-resolution files (300 dpi CMYK for print, RGB for digital) delivered as layered PSD or Procreate files, plus flattened PNGs/JPEGs for quick review
• The color illustration is included in the 16 illustrations and would be in the same style
Characters should feel expressive and relatable, with exaggerated poses and clear emotions that young readers can read at a glance. Bold, harmonious palettes and clean line work are essential; the proportions should be realistic. An important element is that each character will be on their own bike and their placement on the bikes should look realistic.
Once we lock in your schedule, we can structure milestones around roughs, color finals and final file delivery.
