Cartoon Medieval 2D Game Art
Budget: $3,000 – $5,000 USD
I’m building a cheerful, hand-drawn-style medieval browser game and need a full batch of visual assets to bring the interface and world map to life. All artwork must share a cohesive palette and playful linework while staying lightweight for web delivery.
Scope of work
• Icons: a compact set of UI icons (inventory, people, currency, items to build, etc.) in high-resolution PNG, plus down-scaled versions for responsive layouts.
• Buttons: each key button delivered in three states—standard, mouse-over, and click—exported individually and as a sprite sheet for easy CSS integration.
• Backgrounds: layered 2D scenes (town square, farm, catapult, wine press, dragon scene) that maintain clarity on screens up to 1920×1080.
• World map: an illustrated overworld featuring natural landscapes only—lush forests, rolling hills, jagged mountains, and rivers. I may add towns later, so please keep the base file editable.
• GIFs: short, looping micro-animations (e.g., flickering torch, fluttering banner, treasure chest sparkle) that stay under 500 KB each.
File requirements
PNG (icons, buttons, backgrounds), layered PSD or AI source files, GIF for animations, and a simple usage guide noting dimensions, slice locations, and animation frame rate.
Acceptance criteria
1. Consistent cartoon line weight and color style across every asset.
2. Buttons register clearly in all three states with no color-blindness issues.
3. Map scales cleanly from 1024 px wide to 4K without loss of detail.
4. All GIFs loop seamlessly and play at 24 fps or 30 fps.
If you’re comfortable illustrating medieval armor, stone textures, and race-neutral characters in a bright, humorous style—and you can keep asset sizes optimized for a web game—this brief should feel right at home. There is a thorough walk-through of all required assets, including samples in the attached document. Color scheme and general layout have been established.
