Cartoon Kids Book Illustrations

I’m putting the finishing touches on a children’s picture book for little readers aged roughly 2 – 6, and I want every page to feel bright, playful, and full of life. Next to the drawing sometimes filling 2 pages we have a small poem of 4 lines about an animal living in the woods. The manuscript is locked; now I need someone who can translate those words into 20 vibrant, full-colour illustrations in a beautiful, cartoonish style—clear storytelling that younger eyes instantly understand.The story goes about animals living in the wood.

BOOK :
In this cheerful picture book, we meet twenty special animals, each with their own unique characteristics and cheerful accessories. (Think of Paula the peacock – Glitter Feathers – Proud of her feathers, dares to stand out.) They are proud of who they are and one by one join a colorful procession. Together they show: everyone is different, and that's something to celebrate! A book that playfully teaches children about diversity, friendship, and being yourself.
Illustrations: The quality of the illustrations plays a key role.
• Soft colors, with beautiful textures and layers.
• Animalistic yet friendly, with large eyes and sweet poses.
• Simple yet expressive, without too much detail.
• White space, keeping things calm for children.
• Animals with a touch of character – a little glasses here, a scarf there, maybe a hat for the headstrong owl.
• Soft style à la Jonny Lambert.
• Example: a robin with a red scarf, sitting on a branch – a bit shy. Animals with unique features, such as glasses, a crest or colored feathers, the lion with a curly mane, etc.

Here’s what I’m after:
• Each spread delivered at 300 dpi, CMYK, sized for standard 8.5" × 8.5" (bleed details on hand).
• Layered source files ( PSD, or Procreate) so text placement and minor tweaks remain flexible.
• A cover that matches the interior’s energy.
• Two rounds of reasonable revisions to make sure colours, character proportions, and background details all land just right.

We’ll kick off with a quick call to finalise the character sheet and palette; once that’s approved you can move through rough sketches, line art, and final colour. If you’ve worked on early-childhood books before, show me! I want to see how you capture emotion and action without losing the simplicity young kids need.
