Animated Pencil Documentary Sketches

I’m producing a documentary that will occasionally switch from live footage to hand-drawn visuals. For these segments, I need a series of realistic pencil sketches brought to life with just enough frame-by-frame animation to suggest motion—think subtle walk cycles, a brief run, a bird taking off, and similar transitions.

The film moves through three distinct settings, so I’ll need you to illustrate:
• Nature moments such as forests, rivers, or wildlife encounters
• Busy urban snapshots—street scenes, skylines, transit, crowds
• Key historical reenactments, rendered accurately from reference material

Here’s how I see the workflow:
1. We agree on a concise storyboard covering each scene and the type of motion required.
2. You create clean pencil line art in a realistic style, keeping shading and texture consistent across scenes.
3. For every approved sketch, you add a minimal animation pass (typically 6-12 frames) that communicates movement without turning it into a full cartoon.
4. Final delivery includes layered PSD or Procreate files plus exported PNG sequences or a single ProRes clip per animated shot, ready for my editor to composite.

Accuracy and period detail matter in the historical shots, while the nature and urban pieces should capture atmosphere more than exact locations. If you regularly work in TVPaint, Adobe Animate, or Toon Boom, feel free to use them—just be sure the exports match the spec above.
