Animated Firefly Book Illustrations
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I’m creating a picture book for children aged 3-5 that follows a troupe of friendly, glow-tailed fireflies preparing for their destiny of lighting up the nighttime sky and making people smile.
Scope of work
• Around a dozen full-page scenes plus a front and back cover.
• Each scene features expressive firefly characters as baby's, with siblings, at school, lighting up the nighttime sky.
• Optional bonus: short looping animations (wing flutters, light pulses) delivered as GIFs—great, but not a deal-breaker.
• Final art sized for an 8.5" × 11" layout with bleed and supplied as high-resolution PNGs and layered PSD or AI files so I can handle text placement later.
Workflow
1. Rough character sketch and color palette for approval.
2. Line art or blocked-in roughs for each spread.
3. One revision pass.
4. Final colored art (and GIF loops if you add them).
Please include links to any previous insect or kid-friendly cartoon work—especially pieces that showcase personality through simple shapes and expressive faces. A quick concept sketch of a glowing firefly hero will help me see if our styles align.
I’m excited to bring these cheerful fireflies to life and look forward to seeing your ideas!
